About
Amanda has over 40 years of experience in musical theatre and opera, having appeared in more than fifty productions. Her recent work includes Doris in Les Liaisons Miserable and Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music (2024), Salome in Rigoletto's and Miss Cartright in Ladies In Black (2023), and Mrs Hari in The Persian Princes (2022). She won the 2009 Lyrebird Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical as Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music, and has been nominated three times at the Canberra Area Theatre Awards. Amanda trained in classical singing with Bettine McCaughan, Patricia Davey and Merlyn Quaife, and in musical theatre with Ian Nisbet. She studied acting at the University of Melbourne and at NIDA. Her operatic repertoire includes German and Italian arias.
