Amélia Rojas

Hi there! I’m Amélia Rojas, I am 20 years old and I’ve been involved in NZ youth theatre for several years, performing with companies like Encore Theatre Collective. Growing up in a mixed family (My mum being Kiwi and my dad being Peruvian) I was always fond of dancing around the house or with my family. I started dancing as a hobby when I was 3 years old and continued until I was 12, I then learnt about musical theatre and joined the National Youth Theatre Company in their production of Cats at 13 where I played “Bombalurina”. In 2025, I made my professional debut as “Annie/Roxie Understudy” in Chicago. I had the privilege of performing the role of “Roxie Hart” in Christchurch during the tour performing 4 shows along with a mid show swing on. Theatre has always been my passion but I also have interests in Communications and Media which is why I am in the midst of studying a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Auckland. It’s been a wild journey trying to discover what I would like to do for a living but the fact that theatre is always there for me brings me so much joy!
