I’m a fun and big personality on the inside with a hard exterior on the outside, this is what draws me so much to performing on stage. Somewhere like the stage seems like the most vulnerable state to be in but for me it’s where I feel the least vulnerable. Performing art for people whether it’s a deep emotion piece where I am portraying my deepest feelings or a full of energy full out performance with the biggest smile, I love that everyone watching is watching for the art and interpreting my performance the way they perceive and that’s what art is for and this is my specialty. Provoking thoughts and a swell of emotions from my performance. In my most recent work I performed a character that was quite the opposite of me to challenge myself and dig into a side of me I don’t like to show all the time, performing this to an audience was exhilarating and getting feedback that I had been perceived the way that I had worked hard to execute was a great feeling. My favourite part about performing is the feeling of familiarity in the theatre I dream of the smell of hairspray, the haze on the stage when the lights are low, the feeling of taking your fishnet stockings off after a big show, pulling off my performance and the adrenaline high after getting off the stage, the comeback when I feel I wasn’t my best am turning into a learning experience. The high and low of being a professional dancer I love it all and appreciate it all. I believe everything happens for a reason and being a professional dancer after being told no or being praised that becomes more meaningful everyday.
