About

Amir is an Egyptian–Australian actor, Classically Trained Violinist, and singer, deeply committed to telling stories that resonate with contemporary Australian and Middle Eastern communities. Amir developed a profound appreciation for the arts from a young age. His artistic journey began at six, singing and playing the violin alongside his family in his community, where his mother would remind him, “Sing so others can pray.” This began a lifelong journey in the arts, one I am still on. Over the years, Amir has built a professional career across theatre, music, and film, performing both in Melbourne and internationally. Highlights include performing with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra and at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall, Chapel off Chapel, and the Athenaeum. Recently, Amir starred in ‘Son of Byblos’ by James Elazzi, an Australian-Lebanese Queer Writer in its Victorian debut where it was received well both critically and within the Middle Eastern community. After that, Amir joined the company of BOOJUM ! at Victorian Opera under the Direction of Mr. Stuart Maunder. Next for Amir include a new Aussie TV show produced by Steve Bastoni and will be starring in a Melbourne Shakespeare production of Antony and Cleopatra at fortyfivedownstairs later this year.
