Ching Chiu

Percy Chiu (He/They) was most recently an alternate for Mark Cohen and a swing for Angel Schunard in Rent (Sydney University Musical Theatre Ensemble) in 2026. Earlier that year, he played Jesus in Godspell (University of Technology Sydney Backstage) and Jo in Jagged Little Pill (Inner West Theatre Company). In 2025, Percy made his Qtopia debut as Jonny in Bonny & Read: A New Musical (dir. Holly Mazzola). An active participant of his high school’s theatre programme, he played both Banquo in Macbeth, and Gomez Addams in The Addams Family (Chatswood High School) in 2024. Also in 2024, Percy made his Australian musical theatre debut as Oliver Twist in Oliver! (Holroyd Musical and Dramatic Society). Percy’s passion for acting alongside theatre is shown in both his film and advertisement debuts in 2026, as Daniel in The Silent Bench (TAFE NSW), and Stuck in a Loop (ALDI Mobile TVC) respectively. Percy is currently studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music for a Bachelor of Music. He is also studying at the Australian Institute of Performing Arts and Tanya Pearson Academy, and had been serving as a Griffin Ambassador in 2024-2025. In 2023, Percy achieved a distinction in Grade 8 Singing under ABRSM. As well as being onstage, Percy is immersed in other aspects of musical theatre. In 2026, he was the Musical Director and Keys 2/Conductor for The Trail to Oregon! (Eternity Playhouse), Musical Director and Piano/Conductor for Godspell (University of Technology Sydney Backstage), Musical Director for Hadestown (Chatswood High School), and played Piano for The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical (Measina Theatre). Also under ABRSM, Percy has achieved Grade 6 in Piano and Grade 5 in Music Theory in 2021 and 2018 respectively. He was awarded Champion in 2024 Sydney Eisteddfod with his high school’s (Chatswood High School) Jazz Orchestra as Pianist.
