About
Dianne Weller is an award-winning actor, singer, voice artist and creative storyteller with more than 30 years of experience across film, television, theatre, radio and interactive media in Australia, the UK and Europe. A lifelong performer, Dianne began singing musical theatre at an early age, playing the youngest Sandy in Grease at school before developing her skills in classical singing and opera. She has performed at the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Town Hall, Melbourne Ibternational Arts Festival for the English National Opera in London, and in concerts across Brussels and France. Her experience as a singer has given her a deep understanding of harmony, rhythm, musicality, breath and the powerful connection between voice and emotion. Her acting career began with John Duigan’s Flirting for Kennedy Miller Productions, followed by training at Theatre Nepean, Western Sydney University. Since then, she has worked internationally across film and television, theatre, radio, voiceover and motion capture, with credits including Total Control, Spellbound, Professor T, Find Me in Paris and The Missing, as well as major video game titles including Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Hubris VR and Gangs of Sherwood. Alongside acting, Dianne has built a 25-year career as a professional voice artist, lending her voice to thousands of films, documentaries, commercials, games and audio productions. Her work across acting, singing and voice has given her an instinctive understanding of character, vocal expression, physicality, timing and what makes an audience listen and connect. Dianne is also a writer, director and creator. Her original work includes For Your Ears Only, The Passage and The PushUps — a comedic, naughty and unapologetic musical about five middle-aged women finding their voices, challenging expectations and discovering what happens when they come together to sing. Her love of singing and her years of experience as both a performer and storyteller are at the heart of The PushUps. Combining a cappella singing, rich harmonies, comedy and character-driven storytelling, the show brings together two of Dianne’s greatest creative passions: the human voice and the human story. Following her studies at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS), Dianne has further expanded her creative practice into screen direction and filmmaking. Her work behind the camera is informed by decades of experience in front of it, giving her a distinctive understanding of performance, character, rhythm and the relationship between actor, camera and audience. At the heart of Dianne’s work is a belief in truthful performance, strong storytelling and the transformative power of the voice — whether it is spoken, sung or shared together. Dianne also teaches across the world here in Australia at Screenwise NIDA privately and in Belgium at the DAE Video Games School La Cambre Arts school, & KASK Conservatorium.
