Elena Tomaras

Elena Tomaras is an emerging Penrith-born stage and screen performer, currently based in Sydney. As an only child, she developed a flair for the dramatic, often entertaining herself with one-woman performances of Led Zeppelin’s entire discography and a vivid imagination that quickly found a home in the performing arts. Elena began singing and dancing competitively at the age of three, nurturing a love of storytelling and collaboration that continued to grow. It wasn’t until a couple of schoolmates in her year 11 Drama class invited her to watch Hairspray at the Sydney Lyric Theatre, where she discovered musical theatre as the perfect intersection of the art forms she loved so dearly. After a brief stint in a commerce degree at Macquarie University, Elena committed fully to the performing arts and was fortunate enough to be accepted into the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). While training at NIDA, Elena had the privilege of understudying the role of Alex in the Bachelor of Fine Arts’ 3rd year musical In Pieces, directed by Miranda Middleton. Fuelled by a burning desire to find truth through storytelling, Elena is excited to create meaningful work guided by the creativity that first ignited her journey into the performing arts. She can’t wait to move forward with her career and believes that what is meant for you will find you – turns out it was never just a phase!
