About

George McMillan (they/she) is a proud neurodiverse, gender-fluid actor and singer based in Naarm/Melbourne, originally hailing from Bendigo in rural Victoria. George graduated last year with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). In their first year of study they became an online resource for the Melbourne Theatre Company in collaboration with Amy Hume and Colin Sneesby. Her other credits include Miss Havisham in Tanika Gupta’s adaptation of ‘Great Expectations’ (dir. Georgina Naidu), Woman in ‘The Other Shore’ (dir. Bernadette Fam, w. Gao Xingjian), nine different characters in ‘The Government Inspector’ (dir. Joe Lui, w. Gogol), Olga in a staged reading of Chekhov's ‘Three Sisters’ (dir. Laurence Strangio) and staged readings for the Writers Festival 2024: ‘A Neat Little Life’ (dir. Karina White; written by Matty Barker) and ‘Rabbit & Watson’ (Shane Woon) and most recently will be tackling the role of M in Sarah Kane’s ‘Crave’(Dir. Henry Kent). George has also been a voice artist for animated short films. As a formally trained musical theatre vocalist she has worked on the development of new musicals and loves working with music and sound within her work. George is a passionate, expressive and versatile artist drawn to the messiness and raw beauty that comes with being a human, and how truth-telling has the power to change worlds. Her name, “George” meaning “Earth-Worker”, rings true towards her approach to life and the way she creates.
