He is best known for portraying George Washington in the 2024 Australian return season of Hamilton, becoming the first Indigenous Australian to perform the role. The production marked his musical theatre debut and a significant milestone in Australian stage representation. A First Nations artist, Knox is part of a new generation of performers helping expand the visibility and presence of Indigenous Australians across screen and stage. His work reflects a strong commitment to authentic storytelling and cultural representation within the industry. Knox trained at the International Screen Academy, graduating in 2016 after beginning his formal acting training in 2013. Following graduation, Googoorewon signed with Benchmark Creative Management, where he continues to be represented. His screen credits include Black Snow (2022–23), While the Men Are Away (2023), Queen of Oz (2023), Erotic Stories(2023), and the short film Nangana (2018). Raised in a family deeply connected to Australian music, Knox’s grandfather, Roger Knox, is a celebrated country music artist, while his grandmother, Auriel Andrew, was a respected and influential performer. Continuing this rich artistic lineage, Knox also performed in his father Buddy Knox’s band, blending his musical heritage with his work as an actor and performer.
