Maija Mustonen

I am a multifaceted and distinctive physical performer—an embodied storyteller, kinesthetic learner, and actor with an electrifying stage presence, which colleagues and audiences have often highlighted in their feedback. I have honed my craft through multiple professional musical productions, combining strong vocal and musical skills with a deeply physical and expressive approach to performance, including strong Commercial and Hip Hop skills as well as solid Jazz technique. I move with ease within diverse communities, guided by a sensitivity to the subtle rhythms of creative teams. As an artist, I seek to explore the full range of human emotion through the body and voice—creating experiences that are raw, arresting, and deeply felt. Through art, I aim to bring essential yet tender and challenging themes into the light, inviting audiences to encounter them with courage and empathy. I care for my body as it is my instrument. Nurturing it allows me to bring full energy and authenticity to every role, meeting the physical and emotional demands of performance with presence and stamina. I approach each project with a balanced work ethic and wholehearted commitment, ensuring that my craft is expressed at its best for both collaborators and audiences alike. Beyond performing, I am also a trained physiotherapist specializing in dancers and physically demanding stage work. With a deep understanding of the physical demands inherent in musical theatre and performance practice, as part of your production, I contribute not only as a performer but also by supporting cast wellbeing, preventing injuries, and maintaining sustainable performance practices.
