Matthew Walford

Matthew Walford is a versatile Australian performer with over 20 years of stage experience, known for his commanding tenor voice (D2–E6) and dynamic presence across musical theatre and plays. A graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where he earned a Diploma of Contemporary Voice, Matthew combines strong musicianship—including 20 years of piano training—with skills in dance, accents, and sight-reading. Recent highlights include Hans in Frozen (2026), Dracula in Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors (2024), The Balladeer/Lee Harvey Oswald in Assassins (2025), and Aaron in First Date (2025). His musical theatre credits span beloved titles such as Les Misérables (Enjolras), The Addams Family (Lucas Beineke), Footloose (Ren McCormack), Heathers (Kurt Kelly), Little Shop of Horrors (Orin), and Legally Blonde (Warner understudy, ensemble) at Crown Perth. In addition to performing, Matthew has contributed behind the scenes as Vocal Director for Assassins (2025) and Little Shop of Horrors (2021), and Music Director for Shrek The Musical (2025). His work has earned industry recognition, including a Broadway World Award for Best Performer in a Play (2024) for Dracula and multiple nominations for supporting roles in musical theatre. Combining strong vocal technique with charismatic storytelling, Matthew continues to build a diverse body of work across contemporary and classic repertoire.
