Mia Koutsoumidis

Hi there! My name is Mia, and I am a 22 year old Melbourne based performer. I am currently completing my Masters of Opera at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne. Having also a Bachelors of Music Performance, I have been training vocally with Carrie Barr for the past five years. Despite a focus on Classical music at the moment, I have been training in Musical Theatre and Dance since the age of ten at multiple institutions across Melbourne, and still actively work in the Musical Theatre scene. I have experience as a television actor, as well as short film work, and am also currently working as a voice actor. I enjoy exploring as many different avenues of performance as I can, but Musical Theatre was my first artistic love, and continues to be such an important part of my life. Outside the studio, I am an avid, some would say obsessive, reader and swimmer. The main thing I tell myself before I step on stage is that tonight's audience is different from the last, and they deserve every bit of energy I have. I remind myself to share my love and passion of the music, the choreography, with each audience, no matter how small, or whether I am in a performance or audition setting. I perform because being creative reminds me there is beauty in this world, there are colours that are sometimes hard to see, but are undeniably there, and we need to express them and share them with others. I have a few Musical Theatre and Voice Over projects I am currently working on but cannot make public yet...but I am excited to share them with you! Thank you for considering me!
