About

Heading towards her third year at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in Melbourne, Sophie Landis continues to grow her passion for music theatre. Since moving to New Zealand from California in 2018, she has had the opportunity to perform in many theatre productions, including her professional debut as Thea in 'Spring Awakening' and the role of Polly Van Dorsen which she originated in the world premiere of 'Fairystories' by Paul Graham Brown. In 2024, she won the National Music Theatre Award at the New Zealand Dance Awards. Sophie has just recently had the privilege of performing in her second year musical at the VCA as Beverley Bass in 'Come From Away'. She is also the proud recipient of the Fine Arts and Music Tuition Grant, Ron and Naomi Freedman Award, the Orloff Family Scholarship and the Michael and Rose Del Monaco Award during her time in her degree. Alongside her performance credits, Sophie had the experience of learning at Open Jar Institute, a Broadway music theatre intensive in New York City and worked with a number of Broadway veterans in July of 2023. Outside of the arts, Sophie loves spending her time thrifting, spending time in nature and finding whimsy in everything!
