Sumira Mahoney

After graduating high school in 2024, Sumira moved straight from the bush in beautiful Yaegl country to the big smoke of Sydney to pursue her dream career in the creative arts. Her family raised her with the ideals of connection and empathy to the people and land which influence her passion for songwriting and performance. Music is a gene that runs through both sides of Sumira’s family, her biggest inspiration being her Mum and little sister who she has performed with her whole life most notably the 2024 Schools Spectacular as featured vocalists. Not only has music bonded her family, it has also allowed her to connect to her Indonesian heritage through dance. Her dream is to tell the stories of those who need a voice the most and project love and compassion into the world.
